It's lurking in the grass...

You walk past it everyday - it waits patiently and watches; you probably don't even notice it sitting and watching you...  No, this isn't a lead in for an Animal Plant show it's a reminder to all residents who walk their dogs to pick-up the unwanted presents your pets leave behind.  Our neighborhood is full of children, full of pets and full of open areas for both to frolic.

Unfortunately dogs are not only the animals who leave behind presents to be picked up; neighborhood cats are also guilty of relieving themselves in gardens, mulched beds and sandboxes.  Unfortunately some residents do not pick-up after their pets and our children are the unwitting recipients of your pets' presents.

Again, all residents are encouraged to help keep our neighborhood clean; please pick-up after your dog.  If you see a fellow resident exercising poor judgment by not scoopin-poop, you are encouraged to contact Residential Realty and report the resident's indiscretion.  NOTE: Prior to contacting Residential Realty, please be sure that you have correctly identified the offending pet owner.

Architectural Audit in Progress

Each year Wellington Trace Board Members and Committee Members canvass our neighborhood looking for damage and general neglect of dwellings and accompanying structures. This effort ensures that our aging neighborhood remains in good standing.

To date a variety of violations have been noted:

  • Exterior painting
  • Rotted wood
  • Power washing
  • Fence repairs
  • Deck repairs and staining
  • Tattered screens
  • Broken glass in windows
  • Bicycles and/or clutter in yards
  • Landscaping issues

Unauthorized structures (e.g., fences, hot tubs), significant changes to landscape or overall appearance of dwellings (e.g., new paint color) will be noted and checked against current/past architectural applications ensuring that alterations/additions are submitted to Residential Realty for review and approval.  For more information or for an application please visit the Passes and Permits page.  Residents will receive a letter of notice requesting that the issue(s) in question be addressed accordingly.

A New Look

Welcome to the updated Wellingtontrace.com website!  After many years of a using static content to share information about our neighborhood, we've moved into the world of content management systems (CMS).  It is our hope that this new website will encourage even more visitors and as we continue to develop the site we may take advantage of the benefits of Web 2.0, user generated content.

We'll continue to add additional content so be sure to check back to learn about what's going on in and around our neighborhood.  Please feel free to contact the Webmaster or Board of Directors with suggestions for site content, areas for improvement, etc.

Tot-Lots After Dark

As a reminder to all Wellington Trace residents (and non-residents who may see this article), loitering in and around any of the tot lots after dusk is strictly prohibited.

If you witness individuals violating this rule please contact Residential Realty and report the incident.  NOTE: If you suspect that illegal activities are transpiring, please contact the local Sheriff's Department at 911 or 301-600-1046 (Non-emergency line).

Increased vigilance on the part of all Wellington Trace residents will most certainly reduce the number of loitering incidences.  Our community is a participant in the Neighborhood Watch program.
