The Neighborhood Watch program is sponsored by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and implemented by participating neighborhoods. In order for neighborhoods to qualify, the Sheriff’s Office requires at least 65% community participation. Thanks to our Block Captains, Wellington Trace has reached the required participation level and we are now a participating neighborhood. The goal of this program is to continue to ensure the safety of our neighborhood. In order to accomplish this, Block Captains are needed to serve as point-persons relaying non-emergency issues and concerns to the Neighborhood Coordinator. Our Neighborhood Watch program empowers each of us to report suspicious and unlawful behavior. Examples of emergency and non-emergency situations include:
Emergency situations 911 - “In progress” situations (burglary, vandalism, theft)
- Unlawful motorized vehicle operation (ATV use in common area)
- Automobile collisions
Non-Emergency situations (301) 600-1046*
- Speeding and other traffic violations
- Loitering, disruptive or suspicious behavior
- Discovery of vandalism or theft after the fact
*If you encounter a police-situation in the neighborhood and are interested in finding out what is going on, please call this number and the dispatcher will update you. All residents are strongly encouraged to report non-emergency situations as they are occurring. Increased calls to the local Sheriff's Office will increase their presence (if needed) and serve as a tool in helping law enforcement and other officials understand how increased traffic and the continued growth of Frederick is affecting our community.
Also, it's VERY important that you contact your neighborhood block captain about the Emergency or Non-Emergency situation so they can inform your neighbors on your block and other block captains in the Wellington Trace Community. If you do not have your block captain's contact information, please contact the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator.
We have over 500 homes in our community and everyone benefits from a safe, clean and reputable neighborhood. Our Neighborhood Watch program is a great opportunity to further improve our community while offering you the opportunity to get to know your neighbors. Any community resident interested in participating in the Neighborhood Watch Program, please contact the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator.
